Fire alarm certification is the formal confirmation, following inspection and testing, that a system meets applicable code requirements, and this certification is typically physically represented by a tag affixed to the fire alarm control panel indicating the most recent inspection date, the inspecting company, and the system’s compliance status. During an AHJ inspection, this tag is often the first thing an inspector checks, since it provides an immediate indication of whether the system has current, valid certification.
The tag itself is only as meaningful as what stands behind it. A tag indicating recent inspection is not itself protection, it is a representation that inspection actually occurred and that the documented testing supporting the certification is genuine, complete, and accurately reflects the system’s tested condition. An AHJ inspector who has reason to question the substance behind a tag, whether from an incomplete testing record or an inconsistency between the tag and other observed conditions, will look past the tag itself to the underlying documentation.
We provide fire alarm certification and AHJ tagging for commercial and multi-family properties throughout South Florida, backing every certification with complete testing documentation that will hold up to direct AHJ scrutiny rather than treating the tag as a standalone item.
